Elohim (GOD) is the creator of all. If He created the heavens and the earth and all that is in them then He also created me. I am His handiwork. Just as creation was formless and void so too many of our lives become formless and void.
Because we often choose what is contrary to His best for us, our lives become characterized by the unpleasant outcomes ordained by Elohim’s just laws. Our lives become a mess, filled with chaos. Eventually we find ourselves completely engulfed in darkness. One might think this state of things would repel such a holy being as the Elohim of the Bible, yet this is not the case with Yehovah. Actually, the opposite seems true. He is near to those who have nothing left, the broken, the downtrodden, the poor in spirit, the widow, the destitute, the lost, the train wreck. It is in this very place that the Ruach Ha Qodesh (Holy Spirit) desires to hunker in, hover over, and brood over us, drawing us close to the warmth of His embrace. Being rich in mercy and great in love and faithfulness, He chooses not to walk away and abandon His creation when we are at our worst. He was actively responsible for His creation and He remains actively involved in its healing. So what does He do first? He causes His Word to penetrate and illuminate our existence, making a separation between His light and our darkness. We begin to walk in the light of His Word. And this He calls “good”.
“In the beginning Elohim created the heavens and the earth. And the earth came to be formless and empty, and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of Elohim was moving on the face of the waters. And Elohim said, ‘Let light come to be,’ and light came to be. And Elohim saw the light, that it was good. And Elohim separated the light from the darkness. And Elohim called the light ‘day’ and the darkness He called ‘night.’ And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, the first day.” -Gen 1:1-5
“And Yehovah passed before him and proclaimed, ‘Yehovah, Yehovah, El compassionate and showing favor, patient, and great in kindness and truth, watching over kindness for thousands, forgiving crookedness and transgression and sin, but by no means leaving unpunished, visiting the crookedness of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.” -Ex 34:6-7
“Yehovah is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth. He does the desire of those who fear Him; And He hears their cry and saves them.” -Psa 145:18-19,
“For we are His workmanship, created in Messiah Yeshua to good works, which Elohim prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” -Eph 2:10
“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a set-apart nation, a people for a possession, that you should proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light, who once were not a people, but now the people of Elohim; who had not obtained compassion, but now obtained compassion.” -1Pet 2:9-10
